6 September 2022: Pioneering digital health technology company IgniteData is delighted to announce its membership of the influential HL7 FHIR Vulcan Accelerator programme for clinical trial optimisation.
Formed in 2019, Vulcan brings together stakeholders across the translational and clinical research community, bridging existing gaps between clinical care and clinical research.
The group strategically connects industry collaboratives, maximises collective resources, and delivers integrated tools and resources.
Stakeholders such as IgniteData, who can actively contribute to the further development, refinement and use of FHIR standards to optimise the design, conduct and reporting of clinical studies, are central to the Vulcan programme.
According to Vulcan programme lead Amy Cramer, “Vulcan’s goal is to create an ecosystem where research stakeholders collaborate on common use cases: our purpose is to simplify the research community’s exchange of data through the use of common standards with health records.
“IgniteData has pioneered the use of HL7 FHIR protocols in its mission to tackle the historic lack of interoperability in clinical trial systems, and we are delighted to welcome them to the fold.”
Richard Yeatman, IgniteData’s Chief Technical Officer, said, “IgniteData has been at the forefront of utilising HL7 FHIR and SMART on FHIR, having built the world’s first truly agnostic EHR-to-EDC patient data automation technology, Archer.
“Vulcan’s contribution to the use of FHIR to streamline data collection and submission, protocol representation, and clinical trial setup and management is closely aligned to our area of expertise. We are honoured to have the opportunity to collaborate in this game-changing clinical research initiative going forward.”
